Dust Dyeing IN GEOLOGIC TIME2025
Joshua Tree, CA
As I walk the path, step by step, I dye the yarn with dust, dirt, sand and grass. My footsteps and the yarn traces the watershed.

Walking from the top of the watershed, the skein of yarn is dust-dyed through contact with the ground material over 2 miles. The yarn, embedded with the physical properties of the place, is then woven into an abstracted map of the location and re-sited in the wash, following the path of the water.  Photographed with 35mm film.
