JARDINs DE Métis:
FUTURE DRIFTS
One of four winning entries for the International Festival of Gardens competition at Jardins de Métis in Grand-Métis, Quebec, Canada.

This 10x20m site is planted with Asteraceae species in order to promote new species crosses as a way of questioning future possibilities for resiliency.

Using related species to the ones identified for habitat protection in 1999 (the same year as the first International Festival of Gardens) along the St. Lawrence River allows for questions on ecological possibilities. Are species crossing in today’s conditions more resilient and adaptable to our future ecolgoical and environmental realities?

Topography changes (and related moisture differences) will allow a diverse set of conditions for these asters to potentially cross within. This garden explores the conditions of our potential future ecologies.
